Homemade Lavender Oil

What's that you say? If only you could make beauty products for yourself at home? Well, I've got news for you friend, you can! Today I'm sharing one of my favorite (and easiest) oils to make at home! (Be sure to grab your free download of the recipe below!)

You only need a few ingredients and a little bit of patience.

Ingredients:

Dried Lavender Flowers

Carrier Oil*

Empty Glass Jar with a Removable Lid

Directions:

Fill your empty glass jar with your dried lavender flowers.  I usually fill the jar about 1/4 of the way up with the flowers. Fill a small pan with enough of your carrier oil so that it will fill your glass jar. Heat the oil on low for just a few minutes until warm.  Pour the warm oil over the top of the lavender flowers and seal the lid of the glass jar.  Now, you just have to wait a few days (up to  3 - 4 weeks) for the flowers to infuse into the oil.

Open your jar and pour the contents through a small strainer into another empty glass jar, in order to strain out the lavender flowers.  Now you have your own homemade lavender oil! You can use this oil in your own salt scrubs, in the bath, or to moisturize your skin after you shower (my favorite!)  Keep the oil in a dark container and out of light for the longest shelf life.

*I prefer to use either jojoba oil or sweet almond oil as they are more easily absorbed into the skin, but you can use any unscented oil that you like.
